My Preference in Glaucoma Surgery
Stegmann RC
Pretoria (Südafrika)
Canaloplasty utilizes normal structures in the eye to re-establish
physiologically normal intra ocular pressure. The trabecular meshwork,
canal of Schlemm and collector channels are involved in the
pathogenesis of glaucoma. One, two or three of these structures may
be involved and it has become obvious that the more structures
involved, the more serious the disease. Surgery of glaucoma can be
made safer and more predictable by re-establishing outflow pathways
where the trabecular meshwork, canal of Schlemm and the
collector channels are returned to normal function. Techniques of
diagnosis, surgery and the results of such undertakings will be illustrated
by high quality video presentations.
